Ravat 51 (Vignoles) was developed by J. F. Ravat, a French hybridizer, in the 1920's. It is a cross between Pinot Noir and a Seibel hybrid. It is also known as Vignoles. Natural high acidity must be balanced with sweetness to produce a superior varietal.
